    Cargills to enter Commercial Banking sector Featured

    Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Gotabaya Rajapaksa graced the opening ceremony of the initial Cargills Commercial Bank as the Guest of Honour at the Bank Head Office Premises in Kollpetty, Galle Road on Monday (30th June).

     

    The launching ceremony was presided over by the Chief Guest, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Ajith Nivard Cabraal. The Governor of the Central Bank and the Secretary Defence together unveiled the plaque amidst the distinguished gathering at the main entrance.

     

    Cargills Bank entered the Banking and Finance sector as the 23rd licensed Commercial Bank of the country. It is a venture promoted by Cargills (Ceylon) PLC and CT Holdings PLC, the parent company of the Cargills, and has enticed strong local investors as well as reputed international partners.

     

    The total capital infused into the Bank at present stands as Rs. 5 Billion. The Banks philosophy has been moulded to be, consistently available to their customers and to simplify their banking transactions by offering simple yet innovative and attractive banking products.

     

    Speaking at the inaugural session, Chief Guest Ajith Nivard Cabraal said that, bloom of new ventures in the banking sector indicates the enhancement in the Banking and Finance sector since the conclusion of the ruthless war.

     

    The Bank operations will be led by a group of Top-Calibre Banking Executives those who have come across a vast experience and exposure in the local and international markets.

     

    Secretary to the President Lalith Weerathunga, Founding Board of Directors of Cargills Bank consists of Chairperson Mr. Louis Page, Managing Director, Deputy Directors, and top ranking businessmen were also present among the distinguish gathering.(KH/MoD)
