    The 16th World Export Development Forum (WEDF)  the flag ship event of the Geneva-based International Trade Centre (ITC), will be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on October 12-13,2016 at the BMICH.  WEDF supports businesses to navigate the new trade and development landscape.


    The WEDF this year is themed Trade for Success: Connect, Compete, Change’, and  promises to be a great networking event for business leaders. WEDF is a unique global conference and business-to-business (B2B) matchmaking platform dedicated to support trade-led development.


    Within the WEDF 2016 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, ITC and EDB will organize facilitated B2B meetings on 11th October 2016 enabling companies around the world to meet potential business partners. Individual matchmaking meetings between high potential buyers/sellers will be arranged by the WEDF team to meet the addressed business needs of each company. These will allow participants to explore new business opportunities taking advantage of the strategic position of Sri Lanka at the crossroads of important maritime routes to the Indian Ocean, said Chairperson and Chief Executive of Export Development Board (EDB) Indira Malwatte.


    B2Bs will cater to the sectors of : Information and communication technologies (ICTs), Tourism, Specialty food: Tea and Spices, Processed food, Apparel, Rubber and , Manufacturing.


    WEDF will bring together more than 600 policymakers, business leaders, and officials from trade and investment support institutions (TISIs) and international organizations to discuss how to achieve sustainable and inclusive economic growth through trade. There will be many international and local speakers addressing the WEDF.


    The  WEDF is co-hosted by ITC and the Ministry of Development Strategies and International Trade of Sri Lanka, through the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB).
