This year's historic Kandy Esala Pageant of the Sri Dalada Maligawa will begin with the kap planting ceremony at the Natha, Vishnu, Kataragama and Pattini Devalayas in Kandy at 5.35 am on August 15 facing the South.
Devala Peraheras will be held at the four devalayas for four consecutive days from today.
The first Kumbal Perahera of the Dalada Maligawa will parade the streets on August 20 and continue daily until August 24.
The Randoli Perahera will commence on August 25 and continue daily until August 24.
The Randoli Maha Perahera will be on August 25 night.
The pageant will conclude with the water cutting ceremony and the Day Perahera on August 30.
