Sri Lanka won by 79 runs against Ireland at the first one-day international played at the Clontarf ground in Dublin.

Ireland won the toss and elected to field first. Sri Lanka batting first made 219 for 8 wickets.

Chasing 220 to beat Sri Lanka, the Irish batsmen despite a couple of battling innings  went down by 79 runs, extending the Sri Lankans' winning run to ten ODIs.

Ireland's total of 140 was their lowest in an ODI on the ground.
