The Lankan team after a day off on Saturday had a full work out here today and Pradeep who took a career best four wickets for 31 runs to set up Sri Lanka’s 34-run win (D/L) over Afghanistan suffered the injury during practice when he tried to take evasive action by putting up his hands against a powerful shot hit by Kusal Perera that was heading straight at his face and, took the full force of the ball on his right hand.
Pradeep was quickly taken to hospital for treatment and Sri Lanka team manager Ashantha de Mel said that he had suffered only a dislocation of the little finger and with rest should be able to play in the next game against Australia which is in six days time on June 15 at the Oval.
“Nuwan was given local anaesthetic and his finger was put in place. He also suffered a cut on that finger and he was given antibiotics,” said De Mel.
