    'Sindurala' returns home

    Sri Lanka Navy Ship 'Sindurala' arrived home after a successful journey to Australia on Monday (24 September). The ship left from Trincomalee last month (20 August) to take part in the naval exercise 'KAKADU 2018' in Australia.

    The ship was accorded a traditional welcome upon her return to home port in Colombo.According to Navy media, 'Sindurala' has completed the longest sea passage for a naval exercise of the Sri Lanka Navy, having covered a distance of 6,646 nautical miles of a sea journey.The Royal Australian Navy's biennial exercise, 'KAKADU 2018' which commenced on 30th August ended on the 16th (September). Exercise maneuvers were conducted along the coastal areas of Darwin.

    Sri Lanka was one among the 27 countries including, Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Chile, Canada, China, Fiji, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United States of America, and Vietnam that took part in 'Kakadu 2018'. 24 ships and 21 air craft were involved in the Exercise.

    Among the host of events conducted during the course of the exercise, the Sri Lanka Navy was able to secure the 3rd place in the sporting event.
