The Russian Navy Ship 'Perekop', left Colombo on Sunday (22nd April) after completing a successful goodwill visit to the country. The ship arrived to Sri Lanka on the 18th (April) making a five-day goodwill visit.
The 'Perekop' is 138m in length and 17m in width and carries a crew of 399 naval personnel. During their stay in the island, the members of the crew took part in a number of events including, a friendly football match organized by the Sri Lanka Navy.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
