    Army Para Games in November

    The Sri Lanka Army Para Games will be held from 22nd to 24th November at the Diyagama Stadium in Homagama.

     

    According to Army media, the games, which provide a platform to differently able Army War Heroes to showcase their athletic abilities, will this year see the participation of some foreign sportsmen for the first time.

     

    Competitions for different events including Basketball, Badminton, Cycling, Wheelchair Marathon, Archery, Weight-Lifting, Volleyball, Volleyball (sitting), Beach Volleyball, Table Tennis, Cricket, Swimming, Wheelchair Tennis, Air Rifle Shooting and Athletics had earlier begum in the previous months while the final three days (22nd to 24th November) will see 21 track and field events being held at Diyagama. More than 800 differently able War Heroes are taking part in the Games this year.

     

    Commenced in 1991 as the 'Army Disable Sports Meet', it was later renamed in 2010 and came to be known as the 'Sri Lanka Army Para Games.'
