A ceremony to felicitate award winning documentary film directors such as Dr. Lester James Peiris, Sugathapala Senarath Yapa , Tissa Liyanasuriya, and Keerthis Sri Perera will be held today (18th Sept.) at 6.00 p.m. at the Auditorium of the Department of Government Information.
The ceremony will be held under the patronage of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratna and Deputy Minister of Finance and Media Lasantha Alagiyawanna.
In addition, it will also be an occasion to digitalize documentary films done by Government film Unit and hand it over to the National Archives Department for conservation as well as releasing the conserved documentary films to the internet.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
