    Azquiya Usuph bags Gold medal in Snowboarding

    Azquiya Usuph representing Sri Lanka at Dream Program in Pyeong Chang, Korea placed 1st in Snowboarding and secured a Gold Medal for the 2nd consecutive year.  Azquiya Usuph also placed 1st in Snowboarding in 2015.

     

    Azquiya Usuph is a young athlete who also secured herself 1 Gold Medal, 1 Silver Medal (Team Events) & 2 Bronze Medals (Individual Events) in August last year in Singapore at the 11th Annual SICC Tri Country (Malaysia, Singapore, & Philippines) Open Invitational Swimming Meet held in Singapore.

     

     

    Usuph is a year 10 student of the British School in Colombo. She is the current 50meter backstroke record holder of the Inter International Schools Swimming Championship Meet 2015/16 and is a nationally placed swimmer in Sri Lanka since 2014.

     

     

    The Dream Program held since 2004 is a winter sports training program and competition to nurture young talents from all over the world. This year it was held from 17th- 29th January with 179 participants from 44 countries as a run up prior to the Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games in Pyeong Chang, Korea 2018.

     

     

    The Dream Program from its inception has groomed athletes for Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games in 7 sports and 15 disciplines in Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding, Cross-country Skiing, Biathlon, Para–Skiing, Figure Skating, and Short-Track Speed Skating.
