The Sri Lanka Navy clinched the National Netball Championship beating the Sri Lanka Air force 53-52 at the finals held at the North Central Sports Complex in Anuradhapura on 31st January 2016.
W/OD Dulangi Wannithilaka was crowned the “Netball Queen” and W/OD Lakmali Bandara was adjudge the Best Shooter for their exceptional performance which enabled the Navy to win the National Netball Championship for the first time.
Eighteen netball teams participated in the tournament organized by the Netball Association of Sri Lanka. The Navy fought their way into the finals recording resounding victories. They beat Badulla DA 37-3 in the quarter-finals and KDU 54-12 in the semi-finals.
