Sri Lanka's President Maithripala Sirisena congratulated Australia's new Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, as Australia continues its journey as an exemplary parliamentary democracy.
"Congratulations to Australia's new PM @TurnbullMalcolm, as Australia continues its journey as an exemplary parliamentary democracy," President Sirisena said in a Twitter message.
Mr. Turnbull, who served as Minister of Communications under former PM Tony Abbott, won the party room ballot Monday night to replace Tony Abbott as the leader of the ruling Liberal Party becoming Australia's 29th prime minister.
