    President reviews progress on establishing Compost Centres Featured

    A discussion on the progress of the program implemented by the Central Environment Authority to provide solutions to the garbage problem affecting most areas in the country, was held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena today (Aug. 11) at Mahaweli Center.

    Attention was paid on maintaining the compost centers with high quality standards established in the areas of provincial administration institutes under the financial assistance of Pilisaru Project.

     

    The projects of compost centers are being implemented in Matara, Lankapura, Mahaoya, Hambantota and Lunugamvehera areas and the present situation of the project as well as the problems faced by them when implementing the project were discussed in detail.

     

    During the discussion, the President emphasized the importance of conducting these compost units more efficiently and productively.

     

    Mahaweli Development and Environment Ministry Secretary Nimal Rupasinghe, Chairman of Central Environment Authority Prof.Lal Mervyn Dharmasiri, Director General K.H.Muthukudaarachchi, and Director of Pilisaru Project R.Walpola were present.
