This monastery was established by Ven.Kiribathgoda Gnanananda Thero on a 5 acre land in Kundasale donated by President Sirisena, while serving as the Minister of Mahaweli Development.

The Presdient after participating in religious observations, presented the original deed of the land to Ven.Dodanpahala Chandrasiri Mahanayaka Thero, the Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Sangha Sabha.

A large gathering of devotees including Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake and people's representatives were present on the occasion.
