New Government has achieved much in 100 days - PM Featured

    May 18, 2015

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on Sunday (17) said that the coalition Government which some people say is a “achchaaru” Government, has fulfilled majority of promises within 100 days.

Speaking at an event in Walapane, the Prime Minister said that the “achcharu” Government has achieved in 100 days what former President Mahinda Rajapaksa could not achieve in five years.

The Prime Minister pointed out that President Maithripala Sirisena was elected to power in January in order to bring change to the country. He said the new government has at least reduced the cost of living burden on the people.

"This acharu Government filled your bags and your stomach. The Rajapaksa Government filled their bags and their stomoch,” he further added.

"The former President is questioning the failure of the new Government to take some of the development projects forward. But the public opinion is that they could not make full use of the new roads and highways as the cost of fuel was high. Since we have reduced fueld prices, the people are able to pump full tanks of fuel and travel around the country," Prime Minister Wickremasinghe emphasised.

He also pointed out that more benefits and solutions to problems of people would be provided with the election of a new government by September.

He also said that most development projects, including the construction of roads, will continue by following the proper tender procedures.

The meeting was organized by the Walapane UNP Organizer and Provincial Councilor Renuka Herath.
