    Free Health Care budgetary allocation to be increased Featured

    President Maithripala Sirisena said that he expects to increase budgetary allocations upto 5 percent for Free Health Care Services.

    Addressing an event held to mark International Midwives day at the National Youth Centre Auditorium in Maharagama on Tuesday (05), the President said health sector is a key factor that contributes for the development of a country. Therefore development of health sector is much important rather than infrastructure development like roads and buildings.

     

    He pointed out that Sri Lanka has now reached a commendable level in the global health index and the role played by the Midwives cannot be underestimated at this juncture. He commended the services rendered by the midwives in this endeavor.

     

    President Sirisena also reiterated that necessary steps would be taken to uplift the health sector of our country.

     

    Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senarathna, Justice Minister Wijedasa Rajapaksha, Fisheries Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, Health Ministry Secretary Dr.R.B.Dissanayake and NYSC Chairman Eranda Weliangage were present.
