A religious ceremony was held at the Mahiyangana Raja Maha Vihara premises on Saturday (21) to invoke blessings to President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe, the new government and to the people.
The President and the Prime Minister engaged in religious observances at the Temple premises. Maha Sangha headed by Chief Incumbent of the Mahiyangana Temple Venerable Urulewatte Dhamma Rakkhitha Thero invoked blessings on the leaders.
Minister Karu Jayasuriya and several politicians were present at the event.
