    President launches construction work of Sobadam Piyasa

    President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday (March 18) launched construction work on the “Sobadam Piyasa” building complex which will be coming up as the Sri Lanka model in the Green Buildings technique system.

    The “Sobadam Piyasa” is being built at Robert Gunawardena Mawatha in Battaramulla to house the Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment. The Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment is situated at present in a rented building at Rajamalwatte Road in Battaramulla.

     

    The Ministry will be able to provide a streamlined and an efficient service to the people with the construction of this new building. The estimated cost of the building which will have ten floors is Rs. 1252 million. It is planned to complete the work within one and a half years.

     

    Deputy Minister Wasantha Aluvihare and Secretary to the Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment Nihal Rupasinghe were among those who joined in this occasion.
