The Buddha arrived at Kimbulwath-pura from Weluwanaaramaya to preach Dhamma to his father King Suddhodhana and shakya clan on Medin Full Moon Poya Day. It is said that Prince Rahula and Nanda were ordained as monks on this day.

The replica of Bodh Gaya temple built at Pas-visi-budu-raja temple in Rathnapura, will be opened this morning under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena. It is commonly known as Punchi Dambadiva among the people.
