Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa said in Parliament today that duties discharged by the Department of Valuation were not satisfactory and a proper criterion should be introduced to cover the lapses.
Speaker Rajapaksa made that observation when JVP MP Sunil Handunnetti was questioning the Minister of Highways on the differences of valuing done by the department to compensate the owners of lands acquired for road development.
MP Handunnetti demanded to know from the government the criterion on which the value of lands was assessed in paying compensation to the lands acquired for the construction of Southern Expressway. (Special Reporter/HC)
