The Maestro took the stage at the invitation of the SLAF and performed 'Ratna Deepa Janma Bhoomi', evoking great patriotic fervor.  The maestro received a standing ovation and was congratulated personally by the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke who got on to the stage to present a memento to the country’s most revered musician.

The Sri Lanka Air Force Colours Awards Ceremony 2014   is an event much looked forward to  in the SLAF sporting calendar,  to felicitate and encourage its sportsmen and women who have brought honour and glory during the past two years.(KH)
