    Moragahakanda – Kalu Ganga Project aspirations of farming community – President

    The ability to complete and hand over the Moragahakanda – Kalu Ganga Project to the nation during his tenure can be regarded as a fulfillment of great aspirations of farming community in this country, President Maithripala Sirisena said Wendesday (06).President made these comments at an event held in Polonnaruwa.

    President handed over several educational facilities developed in order to provide quality and standard education to children in the area.As the first event, President declared open teachers’ quarters at Teachers’ Training School in Pulathisipura built under “Pibidemu Polonnaruwa” Programme.Then the President attended the ceremony to hand over newly constructed classroom building at Almina Muslim Junior School in Polonnaruwa.
    Constructed at a cost of Rs. 6.3 million, the new classroom building at Vijayabahupura Junior School was also opened by the President.The new classroom building at Hingurakgoda Nagahapokuna Junior School was handed over to the students by the Governor of the North Central Province Sarath Ekanayake.President then joined to open new classroom buildings at Hathamuna Junior School in Polonnaruwa and Hangurakgoda Rajarata Vidyalaya.
    Four classroom buildings at Madirigiriya Mahinda Vidyalaya were renovated under “Pibidemu Polonnaruwa” Programmes and President Sirisena handed them over to students.Addressing students President said education is the best investment a country can make to nurture intellectuals.Governor of the North Central Province Sarath Ekanayake, Mayor Chanaka Sudath Ranasinghe, principals and staff, parents and several others attended the occasion.
