CICA is a multinational Forum established in 1992 to improve Co-operation towards promoting peace, Security and stability in Asia. It pays special attention towards confidence building and Sri Lanka has functioned as one of its observer states since 2012, a press release by the President’s Media Unit said.
The 26 member CICA accepted Sri Lanka as one of its member states on August 15, 2018. This enabled Sri Lanka to improve bilateral, Economic and trade relations among its member states as well as to promote inter personal contacts and relations. Other member states of CICA are Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Egypt, India, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Korea, Russia, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey, UAE and Vietnam.
During his 3 day officials tour President Maithripala Sirisena is due to have discussions with Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon and several other high level representatives of the Tajikistan Government the release said.

President Maithripala Sirisena will leave to Tajikistan today to take part in the 5TH summit of heads of state and government on “Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA)” 2019.The conference will be held for two days (14th and 15th June) in Dushanbe.
