President Rajapaksa in his capacity as Chairman-in-office of the Commonwealth will declare open the secretariat today to mark the International Youth Day which falls on August 12 every year.
Sri Lanka hosted the World Conference on Youth (WCY) 2014 in May. In that meeting it was decided that a secretariat for the CYC should be established in Sri Lanka.
Youth Affairs and Skills Development Minister Dallas Alahapperuma, UPFA Hambantota District MP Namal Rajapaksa and the nine-member CYC executive committee and large number of invitees are expected to attend today’s event. (Special Reporter)
