    PM says several new development projects planned

    Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says the government has planned to commence several development projects this year. The Premier made this remark yesterday addressing media at Kandy after paying homage to the Sri Dalada Maligawa, this morning ane subsequently meeting with the Chief Prelates of the Malwatta and Asgiri chapters.

     The Prime Minister said that he called on the chief prelates to obtain blessings in consequent to the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.The Premier said discussions were held with the Chief Prelates and they were briefed on ongoing activities of the government.The Prime Minister said that the aim of the government is to strengthen reconciliation and peaceful environment in the country, initially and move forward without allowing incidents similar to those took place last month in Kandy.He said that new projects would be launched by the time the results of number of projects commenced by the government become apparent and the time is now ripe to reap the benefits of projects carried out by the current administration.Several projects are nearing completion and the government is determined to commence few more programs to advance the country's development. Discussions are ensued on the projects.

    The Prime Minister said that new programs will be implemented soon after the arrival of the President and when the President returns to the country they hope to move forward in the work that is already being carried out. At the same time an attempt will be made to provide goods at fair and special prices.
