A special programme to improve the IT knowledge of Bhikkus who are students of Pirivenas was initiated on the instruction of President Mahinda Rajapaksa with the contribution of the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission. Accordingly, President handed over the computers to Bhikkus at Thalawa Sri Gnanodaya Pirivena to improve their IT knowledge, at the President's House in Anuradhapura.
In 2013 when the President participated at the opening ceremony of the Bhikku Hostel in Thalawa Sri Gnanodaya Pirivena, the Chief Incumbent Venerable Manikhinne Dheerananda Thera has pointed out the need for computers.
Central Province Govenor Karunarathna Divulgane and TRC Director General Anusha Pelpita were present at the occasion.
