    All are duty bound to safeguard the national harmony and coexistence - President Featured

    President Mahinda Rajapaksa said that it is the duty of every citizen of the country to safeguard the national harmony and coexistence that prevail for thousands of years in the island. He added that it is imperative to strengthen cultural ties between different groups.


    The President was speaking at a function held at the Mohideen Jumma Mosque in Anuradhapura last afternoon (24). The government is committed to protect all the religions in the country. Every ethnic group has identical characteristics. The President emphasized that all the members of different ethnic groups should work together to protect their identities.

    The event organized to mark the Iftar for the 27th day of the holy month. The President handed over a carpet that is useful for the Islamic devotees to accomplish their praying. Ministers Tissa Karaliyadda and S.M. Chandrasena were also present at the event.(KH)
