    President meets Qatar's Minister of Foreign Affairs Featured

    A bilateral meeting was held between President Maithripala Sirisena, who is on a two day state visit to State of Qatar, and the Qatar's Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, yesterday (25th Oct.).

     

    They discussed in detail regarding strengthening the economic, trade and tourism ties between the two countries. The President apprised the Qatari investors and entrepreneurs about the new business and investment opportunities in Sri Lanka.

     

    The Qatar's Minister of Foreign Affairs says that he was confident that the visit by President Sirisena will contribute to further strengthening the close relations between Qatar and Sri Lanka as well as to build new relations which will benefit both the countries.

     

    The Qatar Foreign Minister expressed his gratitude to the President for being with the State of Qatar when the country is facing difficult situations.


     
    President Sirisena expressing his views said that Sri Lanka which will maintain a middle path foreign policy works with all the countries in the world with a friendly and cooperative manner.

     

    Many Sri Lankans are currently working in various fields in Qatar and the special attention of the Qatar Foreign Minister was paid to the request made by the President to increase the opportunities given to the Sri Lankan professionals in Qatar.

     

    Meanwhile, the President also participated in the Qatari-Sri Lankan Business Meeting held in Doha yesterday.

     

    This Business Meeting was organized by the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Sri Lankan Embassy in Qatar and over 150 entrepreneurs representing both countries participated in this forum.

     

    Representatives from Board of Investment (BoI) of Sri Lanka, Tourism Board and the Export Development Board expressed in detail regarding the prevailing new investment opportunities in Sri Lanka.   

     

    Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen and State Minister of Foreign Affairs Vasantha Senanayake also addressed this forum.

     

    A delegation including the Qatar Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani participated in this Meeting.
