The government is planning to hold the election for three Provincial Councils including North-Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Eastern province as well as local government elections before end of March, said Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday (20th Sept.) in parliament.
He said that they don’t have any reason to delay the elections and go beyond March. But, they would decide on the dates soon and hold the elections by March.
“Please don't have any doubt on that. We are trying to amend the Act to bring one election system. Our intention is to hold elections in all Provincial Councils on the same day.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
