The environmental program ‘Parisaraya Pujaniyai’ (The Environment is Sacred), organized in parallel to the International Vesak Festival to be held at the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy was launched today (2nd May) under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.
This program was organized according to a concept of the Chief Minister of Central Province, Sarath Ekanayake. Under this program the important places of the Kandy City will be cleaned.
The President handed over two hand washing equipment to Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela for the use of the devotees visiting the Temple of the Tooth Relic.
The President also visited the Gatambe Grounds in Kandy where the SLFP May Day Rally was held yesterday and joined to clean the ground.
