A Seth Pirith chanting ceremony with the participation of 50 Bhikkus was held on 24th December near the D. S. Senanayake statue on the bund of the Parkrama Samudraya tank in the presence of President Maithripala Sirisena.
It was held seeking rain to bring relief to the people and the country by ending the prolong drought that caused immense difficulties to the farmers.
Following the chanting of Seth Pirith, early morning alms were offered to 100 Buddhist monks under the patronage of the President.
