The President visited India on a special invitation by the Indian Premier Narendra Modi to participate in the BRICS-BIMSTEC Outreach Summit.

A special ceremony was organized at the Trichy International Airport in India for President Maithripala Sirisena to give honorable farewell for him.

A special delegation on behalf of the Indian Government, including the Indian State Minister of External Affairs, M.J. Akbar participated in this event.

The President was given a red carpet welcome and the President was accorded a Guard of Honour.
