The discussion between President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Maldivian Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed focused on a number of areas of mutual interest, including the secondary and tertiary education sectors and the welfare of both Sri Lankan migrant workers in Maldives as well as Maldivians living in Sri Lanka.

Also the Maldivian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ms. Dunya Maumoon called on President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Kurumba Island Resort yesterday (June 26). During the discussion, Ms. Maumoon told President Rajapaksa that his “visit is a milestone in our friendly relations.”

During the meeting between President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Maldivian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ms. Dunya Maumoon, the discussion also focused on strengthening international bodies such as SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) and the Commonwealth. (KH/SI)
