According to the Minister of Sports Dayasiri Jayasekara, the National Sports Festival could be held in the Kilinochchi Sports Complex in September under the patronage of the President and the Prime Minister.

Minister revealed these plans today (23rd June) at the Parliament in response to a question Duglas Devananda MP raised under the Standing Orders 23(2).

“Government expects to establish an international Cricket stadium in Northern Province and a domestic stadium in Jaffna peninsula. Basic discussions on acquiring land were held recently”, the Minister added.
