At a get-together held at the President's House, the President invited the lawyers to impart knowledge and intelligence and guide towards building a country free from arguments and differences. Several Parliamentarians who are also lawyers joined the gathering.
The lawyers emphatically assured their maximum support to the program mooted by the President consolidating the independence of the judiciary, the state television ITN reported.
Expressing his views at the meeting, President Sirisena said that he has succeeded in attaining many achievements that Sri Lanka was earlier deprived of. Although the developments achieved by the country are not physically visible, Sri Lanka had been able to gain great admiration in the world, the President said.
The President underscored that as a person who gives an ear to any person who levels criticisms, what he mostly needed was the support of everyone to build the country.
Ministers Nimal Siripala de Silva, Susil Premajayantha, President's Counsel Faizer Mustapha, Chandima Weerakkody, and Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, State Minister Dilan Perera and a large number of lawyers participated in the get-together.
