State ceremony to present the Akthapathra to the new Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter most Ven.Warakagoda Gnanarathana thero and Anunayake of Asgiriya Chapter Ven. Anamaduwe Dhammadassi thero will be held at the Mahamaluwa of the Sri Dalada Maligawa on May 17 under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.
According to Lekakadhikari of Asgiriya Chapter Ven. Medagama Dhammananda thero the ceremony will be held in keeping with centuries old traditions of the Maha Viharaya and Asgiriya Chapter.
The ceremony is organised by the Presidential Secretariat, Sri Dalada Maligawa, Central Provincial Council and Central Province Governor’s Office.
