    Government accepts amendments to RTI Bill

    Amendments recommended by the Supreme Court to the Right to Information Bill will be accepted by the government.

     

    According to the Deputy Minister of Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media, Karunarathna  Paranawithana those amendments are mostly technical changes and if they are accepted and applied the Bill can be passed with a simple majority instead of a special majority.

     

    The RTI Bill was submitted to Parliament for its first reading on 24th March and the second submission will be made soon.
