The Tri Forces and the Police have revealed that the gold purchased at the auctions held by the State and private banks are being exported from Sri Lanka in a mega scale in illegal ways.

After the comprehensive discussions in this regard, President ordered to take immediate action and effective steps to prevent this smuggling.

The Central Bank, and the State and private banks were also advised to prepare systematized documentation on the auctions they held and a decision was taken to implement a legal, practical program to prevent gold smuggling with the participation of Attorney-General's Department, Tri Forces and the Police.
