A first day cover and a souvenir stamp were issued to mark the event.

President Sirisena presented awards to those who rendered a great service to the institute for a long period. He also presented awards for the best innovation and the best technical assignment.

Minister of Science, Technology and Research Susil Premajayantha, Minister of Postal Service and Muslim Affairs Abdul Haleem, Deputy Minister Dulip Wijeysekara, Secretary to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Research R. Wijeylakshmi, Chairman of the Industrial Technology Institute Niroshana Perera and the Director General Dr. P. A. S. Kumara were also present at the occasion.
