President Maithripala Sirisena on Monday (March 14) has directed to deploy army troops to provide security for all Ceylon Electricity Board installations and substations in the country.
Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said the decision was taken after an island-wide black-out was experienced yesterday (13th March) for the third time within six months.
The authorities have raised suspicion that the three island wide power outages - two within 17 days - could be acts of sabotage.
