The National Minimum Wage of Workers Bill and the Budgetary Relief Allowance of Workers Bill were passed in Parliament yesterday (March 11) with amendments.
The Bills were moved by Minister of Labour and Trade Union Relations W.D.J. Seneviratne.
The National Minimum Wage of Workers Bill provides for a minimum monthly wage of Rs. 10,000 for private sector workers.
The Budgetary Relief Allowance of Workers Bill provides for Rs. 2,500 salary increment for the private sector employees earning Rs 40,000 or less.
