    Sri Lanka offers sacred relics to Thailand Featured

    Sri Lanka offered sacred Buddha relics to Thailand yesterday (March 10) to strengthening the religious relations between the two countries.

    President Maithripala Sirisena offered these sacred relics to the Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand Somkid Jatusripitak when he called on President Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat.


    The Sacred Buddha Relics which were brought from Beragala, Galewela Rajamaha Viharaya to Sathbudu Maha Viharaya in Pannipitiya were brought to the Presidential Secretariat yesterday.


    President Sirisena and the Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand discussed about further improving of the religious relations between the two countries as both countries practice Theravada Buddhism. They also discussed about expanding of opportunities for Thai devotees to visit religious places in Sri Lanka.


    Maha Sanga led by Mahanayake of Kotte Kalyani Damma Maha Sanga Sabha Most Ven.Iththepane Dammalankara thero, Minister Daya Gamage and the Deputy Minister Anoma Gamage also participated in this occasion.
