Making the opening remarks at the IDU, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesighe said his government will provide opportunities for enterprising people to progress in a highly competitive market based economy.
He highlighted that it is important to reward those who make the effort and succeed in a competitive market.
"We are becoming a highly competitive market economy with emphasis on the concerns of the poorer segments of society, and making opportunities for all those who aspire to enter the middle class by their own enterprise and their own efforts.
We have to reward enterprise and ensure all those who make that effort and succeed find their true place in society."
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
