Simultaneously for that day, a series of events to communicate the importance of United Nation World Tourism day 2015 has been organized by the students of tourism study programs of the Department of Economics, the University of Colombo.

This year it is celebrated for the 2nd consecutive year and will be implemented under the theme of "One Billion Tourists and Billion Opportunities."

The aims of the celebration are to develop the Industry Networks and to integrate the stakeholder participation for achieving sustainable tourism development in Sri Lanka.

The series of the activities of the celebration will be held from 25-27 September and nearly 5000 audience representing diplomatic community, private sector, Government sector, tourists and also the decision and policy makers of the industry is expected by the organizers.
