The Cabinet decided to initiate investigations into the failure on the part of the Chairman and Commissioners of the Bribery Commission to dispense with complaints lodged with it during the last four years, Cabinet Spokesman Minister Rajitha Senarathna said while addressing the weekly cabinet briefing held at the Government Information Department today (30).
He pointed out that lots of complaints had been lodged with the Commission during the last four years, but only a handful of cases had been looked into.
“We want to build public confidence in the system in dealing with bribery and corruption,” he said.
"Only after we appointed a new Director General, we were able to start investigations and to file action", He added.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
