The Department of Registration of Persons has made arrangements to issue National Identity Cards to voters of the General Election as well as for the GCE Ordinary Level students.
The voters who have still not applied for their NICs, should do so before the 15th of this month. Commissioner General of Registration of Persons R.M.S. Sarath Kumara said that more than 260 thousand national identity cards have been issued so far and a further 140 thousand cards are to be issued.
Mr. Sarath Kumara requests school principals to speed up the process of sending lists of names of students who have completed the age of 16 years, before the 31st of October.
