    Hours After Taking Oath, Acting President Arrives at Colombo Army Hospital to See Injured Soldiers

    Hon Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, just a few hours after he took oath as HE the acting President of Sri Lanka, effective from Friday (15) paid a visit to the Colombo Army Hospital in order to see the two dozens of injured Army personnel receiving treatment after violent acts around the Parliament complex on Wednesday (13) afternoon.

    Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army, together with several Senior Officers welcomed the new acting President on arrival at the entrance to the Colombo Army Hospital complex.

    HE the acting President afterwards visited the Ward where wounded Army personnel are lying for treatment, inquired into their well-being and shared a few thoughts with them in his capacity as the acting Minister of Defence and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces by virtue of the provisions, vested in the Presidency.

    Medical officers on hand briefed the visiting acting Head of State on health conditions of those injured Army personnel, including the critically injured two soldiers with cut injuries, caused to their heads.

    The day’s special guest extended best wishes to those wounded Army personnel and wished them speedy recovery, saying that they despite threats to their lives, were brave enough to fulfill their national obligations and defended the constitutional rights of all peaceful Sri Lankans.

    Brigadier Crishantha Fernando, Director General Health Services, Brigadier Jude Perera, Director Maintenance and Management at Colombo Army Hospital and Colonel Samantha Kumarage, Director Colombo Army Hospital were also present at the Hospital during the acting President’s visit to the Colombo Army Hospital.
