     Negombo Rotary Club donates Essential items for Pregnant mothers


    The Rotary Club of Negombo handed over a stock of essential equipment to 50 pregnant mothers at the Katana MOH under the patronage of Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle, State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics and Covid Disease Control.

    The state minister shares her thoughts at the occasion and gave a lot of valuable advice to the attending mothers on the nutrition to be taken during pregnancy and how the baby should be nourished after the birth of the baby and explained in detail how the first five years of life affect the development of the baby. The Minister pointed out that the work of the Negombo Rotary Club in donating a stock of essential equipment to pregnant mothers is a very valuable initiative. she expressed her gratitude to the Rotary Club.

    With equipment that is essential for pregnant mothers during hospitalization, this included equipment needed for the baby after birth and State Minister Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle also provided baby bath basins for pregnant mothers with her personal wealth.

    Speaking at the event, President of the Negombo Rotary Club Viran Fernandopulle said that the Rotary Club of Negombo considers it’s a privilege to have the opportunity to fulfill a social responsibility for mothers who are committed to the supreme motherhood and that it is everyone's responsibility as a society to take care of mothers who give birth to such children as they are the future of a country. Mr. Fernandopulle further stated that in the first phase, it is expected to continue to provide the necessary equipment to pregnant mothers in Katana in this manner and to provide the necessary equipment to pregnant mothers based on the offices of other Medical Officers of Health. Katana MOH Dr. Lakshman Wijesuriya, Katana OIC Thushara de Silva, Negombo Rotary Club Advisor Dr. Sri Ranjan, Treasurer Jude Fernando and Coordinating Secretary to the state minister Udara de Silva were also present at this occasion.
