The Consulate designed and decorated the Sri Lanka stall with vibrant pictures showcasing Sri Lanka’ culture, tourism, tea and some handicrafts.
A tv was playing tourism and ‘Ceylon tea’ videos throughout the exposition, while the Consulate staff manned and explained about the wonders of Sri Lanka, the uniqueness and varieties of Ceylon tea. Hot cups of ‘Ceylon tea’ were served to visitors who came to the stall and packets of tea, were bought by visitors, to savour at home.
The Guangzhou Fair, had been organized since 1993 had been an important platform for regional cooperation with friendly regions and cities from China and aboard. The Consulate had participated in the fair 3 times since 2014, with agents of prominent tea companies of Sri Lanka, based in China.
There were over hundred local and international enterprises, including 13 consulates based in China, which participated in the exposition with 45,000 visitors to the fair.
