Following a warm reception, the Sri Lankan Defence Secretary held cordial discussion with the Egyptian Ambassador on matters of bilateral importance and mutual relevance.

Further enhancing of defence exchange including military training between the two countries was also under discussion during the exchange of views.

The Ambassador expressed his willingness to strengthen defence related ties between the two countries and in response, the Sri Lankan Defence Secretary assured the same. Following the meeting, mementoes were also exchanged to mark the occasion.

The bilateral meeting was held in keeping with the healthcare procedures to contain the spread of COVID-19. The Defence Ministry’s Military Liaison Officer Brig. Dinesh Nanayakkara and Egypt Embassy’s Counsellor/ Deputy Chief of Mission Karim Abulenein were also present at the discussion.
